11. Intermission

“You gotta listen to this one with the song jimmy. it is a very smooth transition between the two songs. I don’t think that I have ever listened to these two songs separately. you just gotta listen to these together people.”

10. Die Eier Von Satan

“Die Eier Von Satan” is an industrial-like track that features some heavily distorted bass line that gives way to a heavy industrial guitar riff at the 23 second mark that lasts only ten seconds, playing a single note in Drop C tuning over a reversed drum beat in compound triple meter, and the lyrical component of the song is spoken in German by Marko Fox.”

9. Jimmy

” the melodic-power of “jimmy” dominated by Chancellor’s melodic bass-riffs, Carey’s brilliant drum-power, Jones’ guitar grooves, and Keenan’s hypnotic vocals. “Die Eier Von Satan” (or in translation from German to English, “The Eggs/Balls of Satan”), is a weird industrial-like tune with distorted bass riffs and percussion sounds, hard-driven guitar hooks, and vocals by Marko Fox singing in German with Gudrun Fox translating in English.”

8. Hooker with a Penis

“Hooker With A Penis” is a powerful hard-rock song filled by powerful drums from Danny Carey, brutal guitar charges from Adam Jones, and ferocious screams from Maynard James Keenan who can probably scream the hell out of such current divas like Mariah Carey (no relations to Tool’s drummer), Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson.”

7. H.

“H.” is a dark, melodic guitar-driven tune highlighted by Adam Jones’ expressive guitar work that sounds a little bit like Black Sabbath and King Crimson backed by Carey’s gymnastic drum-style.”

6. Pushit

“Pushit” is also another phenomenal number that is highlighted by more of Jones’ outstanding guitar work including a nice, fuzzy intro riff that almost sounds like the sound of bees buzzing and whatnot, along with Keenan’s mesmerizing vocals, plus Chancellor’s wonderful atmospheric bass hooks, as well as Carey’s fantastic drum work throughout.”

5. Eulogy

“This song was my introduction to Tool. The range of musical instruments, the vocals, the guitar riffs, the different beats and rhythms throughout the piece…and the lyrics. It’s pure genius, in my opinion, and opened my musical mind up to many different genres I never would have considered. I love this song!”

“Aenema” is the album’s big highlight with its melodic bass hooks, guitar grooves, powerful drums, and Keenan’s powerful track that starts out as a metal-driven track until the middle of the song where Justin Chancellor’s bass riffs dominate the track backing Keenan’s mesmerizing vocals with Carey’s powerful drumming accompanying him.”

3. Stinkfist

“This album opens with “Stinkfist”, a song that hits you like a sledgehammer, it’s so heavy. On the surface, it seems to be about a particularly painful-sounding and disgusting sexual practice. In fact, it’s actually a heartfelt song about the necessity to shock people in order to get them to pay attention to anything these days.”

2. Forty Six & 2

“The heavily bass-driven track “Forty Six & 2″ which is another one of Tool’s best known songs. This song is highlighted by Chancellor’s addictive, bouncy, reverb soaked bass intro, along with Jones’ powerful, gritty, driving guitar charges, Carey’s awesome drum work which ranges from simplistic to technical, and of course Keenan’s amazingly powerful vocal deliveries throughout, and I also love those pounding riffs at the end of the song which are just like thunder to my ears.”

1. Third Eye

“Third Eye” which starts off with an audio sample of the late comedian Bill Hicks talking about how he believes that drugs have done some good things for our society, and saying that the best rock albums were all made on drugs, and afterwards the song builds and continues to build more momentum throughout with a dosage of powerful guitars, pulsating bass lines, fantastic drums, all lead by Keenan’s always amazing vocals.”
