Babymetal Albums Ranked

Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese kawaii metal band. The band consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as “Su-metal” (Vocal and Dance) and Moa Kikuchi as “Moametal” (Scream and Dance). The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the “Kami Band” at performances. On October 19, 2018, Babymetal announced that Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) had decided to leave the band due to poor health, following her absence from live performances since December 2017.[1] Since her departure, the band has performed with one or more backup dancers at live performances. In 2019, the band introduced three backup dancers called Avengers who performed in rotation at each live show to form a trio with Moametal and Su-metal. Here are all of Babymetal albums ranked.

3. Metal Galaxy (2019)

“This is the most diverse expression of what BABYMETAL set out to do almost 10 years ago. This is a fusion of musical genres. From electronica and Euro-dance and Pirate shanties to Indian Bollywood to American California cruisin’ – they’re all mashed together with Metal-esque double-bass drums and grinding guitars. And in almost every case it works. A lot of that is down to Su-metal (Nakamoto Suzuka) and Moametal (Kikuchi Moa), and their development as singers.”

2. Metal Resistance (2016)

“This second album is more mature than their debut album (some of the cute J-pop is gone), but Su’s voice has improved to become completely stellar, and there’s tons of energy, sophistication, fun, and absolute kookiness. No song is alike or boring. I absolutely love Road of Resistance, Karate, Awadama Fever, Yava, Amore, and From Dusk Till Dawn. I also absolutely love Syncopation (it’s in the Japan-only version instead of “From Dusk Till Dawn” but you can listen to it online). The rest of the songs are good and most are rapidly approaching the “love” stage. While different than their debut, this album retains the excellent Babymetal sound, and complements their debut very well.”

1. Babymetal (2014)

“This is a great album. Every song, from beginning to end is outstanding. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. For metal fans that have been bored with metal or believe that to be REAL metal it must be played by balding-big-gutted-bearded-middle-aged men, need just the kick in the butt that Babymetal will deliver. Make no mistake, this album will satisfy all or your needs for rapid-pounding double-bass drums and speedy metal guitar licks. “
