Kittie Songs Ranked

Kittie is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in London, Ontario in 1996. All of their material has been released through independent record labels, which to date includes six studio albums, one video album, four extended plays, thirteen singles, and thirteen music videos. “Kittie” was chosen as the band name because the name “seemed contradictory.” Kittie formed in 1996 when Fallon Bowman and Mercedes Lander met in gym class. Morgan Lander became the lead vocalist and one of Kittie’s guitarists and Tanya Candler completed the band’s lineup on bass. After signing to NG Records, Kittie released their debut album Spit, which was certified gold by the RIAA and sold at least 600,000 copies in the United States. The band released Oracle in 2001 and Until the End in 2004. In 2005, Kittie parted ways with Artemis Records and created their own label. The band released Funeral for Yesterday in 2007 and signed to E1 Music in 2009. The band released In the Black in 2009 and I’ve Failed You in 2011. In 2018, a documentary, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, chronicling the history of the band was released in co-ordination with its 20th anniversary. Here are all of Kittie songs ranked.

10. Jonny (Spit, 2000)

” I think the song means a guy who`s like a womanizer, but then just treats all his ladies like slaves or something, and they arent gonna take it anymore. That`s what I think.”

9. Die My Darling (In the Black, 2009)

“The more I listen to it, the more I think it’s similar to “Witch Hunt” on Funeral For Yesterday. It’s all about revenge for vicious actions, as they sing in “Cut Throat.” It seems to speak to that familiar Kittie theme, the sweet revenge thing. Making people pay for the evil they’ve done and not letting them get away with it.”

8. Safe (Safe, 2002)

“I think that it’s about being trapped in a situation with nothing but a glimmer of hope of your dreams and aspirations coming true, although the future at the moment is looking rather bleak.”

7. Paperdoll (Spit, 2000)

“Great version of the song Paperdoll. Spit is the only album I really like, but Oracle is okay. Without Fallon they just aren’t the same. Paperdoll is some of the best Kittie live, but it’s very raw. I wish Morgan would sing more, and growl less.”

6. What I Always Wanted (Oracle, 2001)

“The only this could be more nostalgic for me is if I was listening to it on a cassette deck in my old chevy van. 22 years later and this song had aged like a fine wine”

5. Spit (Spit, 2000)

“The album opens with `Spit’, a short yet fantastic opener. It’s strong and shows off the `no frills’ quality that Kittie possesses. These aren’t you typical girls next door. They are angry and they know how to vent that frustration. They hate everyone and are not afraid to expose the hypocrites they are surrounded by.”

4. Cut Throat (In the Black, 2009)

“Later cuts, including “Cut Throat” utilize some well-placed clean backing vocal refrains; but they are almost always overcome by thunderous grooves and meaty, churning guitar licks”

3. Charlotte (Spit, 2000)

“This is a very cool song! I believe it was their second single from the album. The intro is pretty basic and repetitive. On this song, Morgan uses the melodic voice she’s oh so perfectly capable of to good use, then contrasts it with the chorus which is perfect material to mosh to! This is quite possibly the best song on the album. The ending is extremely mellow. By the way, you should most definitely check out the video to this song. This is another song where the girls are pretty damn furious at men! Again, the vocals are quite cringey.”

2. Into the Darkness (Until the End, 2004)

“I think this song is about loving someone and wondering how they feel about you even though you know the relationship is going downhill. Excellent song by a wicked Canadian band”

1. Brackish (Spit, 2000)

“This was supposedly the first song Morgan ever wrote. It’s not bad, but it features dance beats and loops which, to me, makes the song a little bit tacky. The video for this song is very cheap and boring…But then again saying that so is the song!”
