20. This is the End (Unto the Locust, 2011)

“This is the most epic song I have heard in my life! Brilliant riffs solos and the chorus is just unreal. Powerful since the beginning to the end.”

19. Be Still and Know (Unto the Locust, 2011)

“Machine Head impressive production. But if I had to choose one, I’d go with “Be still and know” : amazing guitar work, brutal verses, pre-chorus that makes you pump your fist in the air, and chorus that burns itself in your mind like a flamethrower through butter.”

18. Wolves (The Blackening, 2007)

“Deadly combination of thrash and heavy metal in this song, so amazing and wonderful! I wondered when I hear this song for the first time, full of riffs and melodies including of pounding of drums like an animal”

17. Slanderous (The Blackening, 2007)

“This is the ultimate Machine Head song in my opinion, great lyrics, catchy riffs awesome solos Robb Flynn slaying the vocals as always…”

16. Who We Are (Unto the Locust, 2011)

“I definitely think it should be or at least in the top 10. I love the chorus it’s really catchy and epic!. The children’s vocals and the violins at the end are just really cool!”

15. Now I Lay Thee Down (The Blackening, 2007)

“I think this is about someone wanting to die/having a bad life as it seems and saying things will be better when your dead? I think it has more meaning than that but that’s what I get out of it. Good song anyways”

14. Sail Into the Black (Bloodstone & Diamonds, 2014)

“To me, the “black” is your own depression. That is we spend a life “fighting” this and that, all of which is a fight to escape from the “blackness” (what makes us unhappy etc.) In other words, life is hard, and we need to keep going (sailing) even if it is dark! Love the manner and tone that “we sail into the black” is sung!”

13. Clenching the Fists of Dissent (The Blackening, 2007)

“No band has been able to give off such angry stuff as machine head and this is by far their angriest this song allows you to give up all the rage inside and deserves at least the top 5 it’s the best song on one of the best metal albums of all time to his viking like vocals to his fast and complex guitar”

12. Beautiful Mourning (The Blackening, 2007)

” So dark, it makes me happy. You actually feel like ripping yourself in half, which is what I look for in a metal song, and it is so ‘ HEAVY! ‘s shorter length makes it a little less challenging to listen to..”

11. Old (Burn My Eyes, 1994)

“The Old Man is the Christian church. Not the devil. Two things give the metaphor away. First, 6000 years is a direct reference to the Young Earth theory, a movement recently pushed by many Evangelical churches. Second, Robb constantly expresses in his lyrics hate for modern leaders, whether they are the government or the church. Look at the song Death Church and Blood of the Zodiac for the church, and a whole ton of other songs for the government.”

10. Hallowed Be Thy Name (The Blackening, 2007)

“This is a great cover of my favorite Iron Maiden song. I listen to it very often. I like the style of the vocals. Overall it’s a great rendition of this classic song.”

9. Now We Die (Bloodstone & Diamonds, 2014)

“Wonderful song, with incredibly heavy guitar work, and an epic breakdown before a really good solo. Not their best song, but it is excellent”

8. Aesthetics of Hate (The Blackening, 2007)

“This song was written after the band saw a article called “Aesthetics of Hate: R.I.P. Dimebag Abbott, & Good Riddance” which basically the article praised the murder of Dimebag Darrell and basically dissed metal fans who respected Dimebag As a muscian. The band was really pissed so they decided to make a song in retaliation to basically be a F You to the people who made that disgusting article and they even used the Title of the article as the song title and in that song their was pure hate and anger for that article that showed that they were pissed and they had every right to write that song which is also a tribute to Dimebag as it defends his name from those people who made that disgusting article.”

7. Darkness Within (Unto the Locust, 2011)

“This song has some of the most amazing Buildup of any song that I’ve heard. It’s an excellent blend of musical styles, and its Lyrics also set it a few steps above other songs. In short, it’s a masterpiece.”

6. Davidian (Burn My Eyes, 1994)

“First song of first album, and it’s making the earth shake! Even many years later, that song still rules. MH brought back the heavy metal to life after the Grunge arises, and this album summarizes why Metal is part of our life :o) “Let freedom ring with the shotgun blast! “”

5. Imperium (Through the Ashes of Empires, 2003)

“This record pleases from beginning to end adding Phil Demmell was monumental. Is it any surprise that he is a huge Randy roads fan. also if you remember at that time soloing was scarce for all bands. This song has no solo but it doesn’t need it rest of the albums have great solos. Everybody likes lamb of god slip knot, etc. They are great but lets remember who was writing these nasty riffs first!”

4. I Am Hell (Sonata in C#) (Unto The Locust, 2011)

“This is the heaviest song they ever made, awesome acoustic solo, awesome vocals, this is all a fan need to have a great time listening Machine Head with the friends!”

3. A Farewell to Arms (The Blackening, 2007)

“Just perfect! Great vocals, super melody, and awesome guitar and drums, with smooth bass. This song is what makes me get into machine head

2. Locust (Unto the Locust, 2011)

“I have heard some songs before Locust but this song is what made me fall in love with them! It’s song which combine the brutal and the melodic side of Machine Head with excellence”

1. Halo (The Blackening, 2007)

“Musically, this song is amazing and easily one of the band’s best. Lyrically, it doesn’t do much for me on a personal level. Without getting into a debate on the specific issues Robb brings up, I’ll just say that while it’s undeniable that Christian values play a large role in our society (which is sometimes a good thing, and sometimes a bad thing), the idea and usage of the phrase “Christian conspiracy” is a little much for me.”
