Mr Moonlight Songs Ranked

Mr. Moonlight is the eighth studio album by British-American rock band Foreigner, released by Arista Records in Europe on 23 October and by BMG Entertainment in Japan on 23 November 1994. In the United States and Canada, it appeared in early 1995 on the Rhythm Safari label. Recorded at seven different studios across the States, the album was produced by Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, and Mike Stone, with an additional production by Phil and Joe Nicolo. It was Foreigner’s last studio release until Can’t Slow Down The album was the first since Inside Information (1987) and appeared to be the final to date full-length release with original lead singer Lou Gramm, who had left the group in 1990 but returned two years later. Prior to starting work on Mr. Moonlight, he was the lead vocalist on three newly recorded tracks from Foreigner’s compilation The Very Best … and Beyond (1992). Mr. Moonlight was also the first album in fifteen years without bass guitarist Rick Wills, who joined the band in 1979, and drummer Dennis Elliott, who was a founding member. Here are all of Mr. Moonlight’s songs ranked.

11. Under the Gun

“It’s a real shame this was released during a time period when everyone thought vinyl (LP’s) was a thing of the past. No vinyl copies exist and that’s a bummer. However, the CD mastering was well done and the sound is very good. This is one of my favorite albums and probably my favorite Foreigner albums .”

10. Hand on My Heart

“Lou Gramm was in great form on vocals and he leant so much to the band with his voice. I am being quite critical and to be honest maybe a bit stingy with the stars on this review it most likely deserves the fifth star, it is a great disc with enough Ballads on it to make the entire playlist work out well.”

9. Rain

“Everything sounds new and refreshing, which Mick Jones and Lou Gramm are famous for. Bruce Turgon is on bass and plays it to the fullist, along with Jeff Jacobs who plays the keyboards with that unmistakably Foreigner sound that everyone has grown to love, since 1977, with their first album.”

8. I Keep Hoping

“It is always nice to have a break here and there so that you can take a breather every once in a while. Foreigner is a gold leaf band however they can and do produce some of Rocks best tracks….”

7. Until the End of Time

“The musicianship is top notch, the production sounds good to me, and the song writing was on par with their earlier efforts. And the vocals…well, Mr. Gramm was back up front, and he sounds excellent. He lost nothing from his time without Foreigner. “

6. Hole in My Soul

“This was one of the last great rock albums of the 20th century. Anyone who says otherwise is probably someone from Generation Z who gets off with “rock wannabes” like Green Day / Alice in Chains and more recent distorted sputum from U2 or the worn-out Rolling in their wheelchairs Stones.”

5. White Lie

“THis one has lots of melodic songs and well made rock music on it. It’ not as great as their peak at all but it’s so much better than what they called pop music of the time that it’s worth owning for that reason alone. Any foreigner fan needs this one in their collection for sure. “

4. Running the Risk

“ou Gramm has once again left Foreigner and Mick Jones is the only original member there. Foreigner, as a band, is a survivor, and will probably continue for some years. But they may never make another album as good as Mr. Moonlight. Get it while you can.”

3. Big Dog

“Then the band get totally down & dirty with “Big Dog,” with a gloriously sleazy vibe and ominous lead vocals (but is it Gramm or Jones at the mike? I can’t be sure).

2. Real World

1. All I Need to Know

“You can listen to this album well, you can hardly find any breakdowns. Besides, for me there is only Foreigner in it when both main protagonists are involved. The new foreigners with singer Kelly Hansen (also good) are therefore a pure Mick Jones band for me.”
