6. XX

“This band manage to stay above the pack from thier nu metal contemparies by making a sound that is truly thier own, taking as much influence from goth rock and alternative of the 80’s as bands like Korn or Sevendust, the band experiments greatly, but it always sounds natural, and never contrived. A consistent, interesting and satisfying listen”

5. The Righteous & The Butterfly

“Mushroomhead is a very “weird yet unique” band who’s been around for over 20 years now… so they have nothing to prove anymore. Damn they do so. “The Righteous & the Butterfly” can be blamed for many things, by the usual haters, but not for one thing…. its diversity…”

4. Superbuick

“This is by far Mushroomheads best album and my favorite of any band. The songs are perfectly pieced together with keyboards, guitars and great vocals. Buy it, listen to it and enjoy this masterpiece.”

3. Beautiful Stories For Ugly Children

“As always, Mushroomhead’s strongest skill is their perfect balance between melody and aggression. Nothing’s voice has both qualities, but the screaming and the second vocalists provide the extreme sides. The best example of this is “I’ll Be Here”. At its heart, it’s an ordinary serious Rock song, but the roughness makes it unique. Despite being a ballad, the roughness of the guitars and the voice adds an edge. On the aggressive songs, the choruses hold back the aggression to prevent it from being too much.”

2. Savior Sorrow

“Mushroomhead’s signature sound came from all the weird samples, gothic and horror synths mixed with guitar riffs. However, with each album, there was less weirdness and more “normality”. XIII, the band’s most commercial sounding record, was basically alt metal album with hints of nu metal and some piano here and there.”

1. XIII

“One of nu-metal’s highlights. It isn’t gratating or whiny, and the songwriting is varied enough from track to track to keep the album interesting; those two traits alone escalate it well above the majority of a largely adolescent genre that never budded into anything worthwhile. However, there are a number of things this album does right as well.”
