One Republic Albums Ranked

OneRepublic is an American pop rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2002. It consists of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, guitarist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, drummer Eddie Fisher, and keyboardist Brian Willett. The band first achieved commercial success on Myspace as an unsigned act. In late 2002, after OneRepublic played shows throughout the Los Angeles area, several record labels approached the band with interest, but the band ultimately signed with Velvet Hammer, an imprint of Columbia Records. They made their first album with producer Greg Wells during the summer and fall of 2005 at his studio, Rocket Carousel, in Culver City, California. The album was originally scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, but the group was dropped by Columbia two months before the album came out. The lead single of that album, “Apologize”, was released on April 30, 2006, on Myspace and received some recognition there, becoming number one on the Myspace charts. On October 7, 2016, OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth studio album, which featured a number of collaborators, including Cassius, Peter Gabriel, and Santigold. Preceded by the singles “Wherever I Go”, released on May 13, 2016, and “Kids”, released on August 12, 2016, it was recognized as a change in their sound in contrast to previous albums by both critics and the band itself. In 2017, the band released the singles “No Vacancy”, “Truth to Power”, “Stranger Things” with Kygo, and “Rich Love” with Seeb. To date, the band has sold approximately over 16 million records worldwide. Here are all of One Republic albums ranked.

4. Oh My My (2016)

“My personal album of that year. I rarely go a day without listening to it & it seems to end before you know it. Each song brings its own & Ryan Tedder is just genius in my book. The album has up beat songs, sad songs, love songs, electronic songs…everything! My favourite song is choke, its emotional yet upbeat. A true work of art.”

3. Dreaming Out Loud (2007)

“Heard the “Apologize” song several times and liked it a lot. Not enough to make me buy the album, then heard “Stop & Stare”.Another real good song on a well-crafted “pop” album. As someone did mention,One Republic sounds a bit like Coldplay. Very good company indeed.Anyway getting back to One Republic.Other standouts on this album are,”Say (All I Need)”,”All Fall Down”,”All We Are” and “Someone To Save You”.The latter probably being my early fave on the album.”

2. Waking Up (2009)

“This is a very unusual album, due mostly, I believe, to the talents of Ryan Tedder, who is responsible for the vocals and the bulk of the writing, producing and arranging, as well as playing piano and other instruments. The result is an album that has solid beats and bright, structured production to ensure pop success, but also features diverse, sometimes complex arrangements, with many of the tracks including melodic piano and strings combined with heavy percussion.”

1. Native (2013)

“Tedder’s vocals are fantastic and he and his team of One Republic did a superb job with “Native”. I love the insane degree of enthusiasm that is infused into the album with the instantly catchy and ubiquitous song, “Counting Stars”, the soaring and awe-inspiring “Burning Bridges” which became a fast favorite of mine, and the partly biographical and heartwarming “Preacher”. When you listen to One Republic’s latest album or previous work, you are treated to a rich and solid collection of stirring, fun, and memorable songs that will make you think, hum and dance along so effortlessly.”
