The Howlers put their foot down on new single ‘D.R.I.V.E’
London indie-rock duo The Howlers deliver the final preview of their forthcoming second album with ‘D.R.I.V.E’.
Built around a heavy groove and an immediate sense of momentum, the track reflects the more muscular direction of Heavy, which follows on October 9. Frontman Adam Young says the song came together unusually quickly and was written with everything from clubs and mosh pits to late-night drives in mind.
Lyrically, ‘D.R.I.V.E’ captures the instant attraction of encountering someone who completely commands your attention, fitting into the album’s wider exploration of desire, impulsiveness and the consequences that can follow.
Heavy also arrives after a significant change within The Howlers. Following a transitional period in late 2024, Young rebuilt the band as a two-piece alongside drummer Toby Richards, with the new setup helping reshape their creative approach.
Working again with Chris Ostler of Black Honey, the pair largely developed the album remotely before recording live drums during its final stages. It follows debut What You’ve Got To Lose To Win It All, which reached the UK Independent Breakers Chart Top 10.
