10. Tom Jones Presents (1969)

“Among the classic songs from his peak years (1965 to 1972) that you will find here are It’s not unusual, What’s new pussycat, Green green grass of home, Detroit city, Funny familiar forgotten feelings, I’ll never fall in love again, I’m coming home, Delilah, Help yourself, A minute of your time, Love me tonight, Without love, Daughter of darkness, I who have nothing, She’s a lady, Till and The young new Mexican puppeteer.”

9. Reunited (2005)

“A three-disc box set captures what appears to be a Tom Jones in Las Vegas Live Set. The highlight is the entire second disc featuring duets with Las Vegas luminaries like Lola Falana, Paul Anka, and Susan Anton. For Tom Jones fans it’s a must-have. Not so much if you are turned off by the entire Las Vegas lounge singer schtick.”

8. A-Tom-Ic (1966)

“This particular set includes some tracks that were released as singles, these being Thunderball (the James Bond theme that became a top 40 UK hit and a top 30 American hit), Not responsible (a top 20 UK hit and a minor American hit), This and that (a top 50 American hit), Promise her anything (a minor American hit) and To make a big man cry (which missed the British and American charts altogether, but is a great track nevertheless).”

7. 24 Hours (2008)

“The Voice is forceful but surprisingly subtle in depth of meaning and inflection if you really listen with your soul as well as your ears. He has ranged over so many kinds of music through the years that anyone should be able to find what pleases them. All of it is stamped by the strength and understanding of TJ.”

6. Along Came Jones (1965)

“On his debut album the Welsh singer singer demonstrates his powerful voice, accompanied by Les Reed’s orchestra. The A-side is dominated by a full wind section and heavy bass and drums. Sky Boat Song is an arrangement of a Scottish folk song about Bonnie Prince Charlie, who fled on a boat to the island Sky when Cromwell seized power.”

5. Live In Las Vegas: At The Flamingo (1969)

“This one gets uprated for authenticity, and the wonderful form the artist, band and audience are in! Some songs will always be awful on a TJ concert, coz he’s a showman first, but then he uses his sledgehammer of a voice to transform even tacky songs like beatles Yesterday to heights you didn’t think were possible!”

4. Praise & Blame (2010)

“This is a blues/gospel album with a great Dylan cover, great playing and terrific singing. The problem with it is that the subject matter is religious and as an agnostic, it doesn’t really have anything to do with me. Still, glad I got it and a very good album.”

3. Reload (1999)

“Tom Jones pairs his remarkable voice with talented artists, great musicians, and expert production with a selection of songs that make you move and feel. Sir Tom Jones is known as the master of the voice. He packs soul, emotion and power in every note. Enjoy the ride.”

2. I Who Have Nothing (1970)

“Tom Jones is pretty sweet.  So is this album.  I hear before Tom Jones bangs a groupie, he soaks his unit in mouthwash.  Supposedly it sterilizes while giving a numbing effect.”

1. Green, Green Grass Of Home (1967)

“”Green, Green Grass of Home” was one of the biggest international hits singer Tom Jones ever enjoyed, topping the 7 million mark in sales World Wide, topping the UK charts and reaching #11 in the US. Jones was recording for London Records at the time, distributed in the US on the Parrot subsidiary label. Usually his albums were released at roughly the same time with the same track listings in both countries but occasionally this was not the case. See here the US release of the his 1967 album Green, Green Grass Of Home.”
