Wolfschmidt preview upcoming album with new single ‘svalbard’
Gothenburg outfit Wolfschmidt offer another glimpse of their forthcoming album INSUFFICIENT FAILURE with ‘svalbard’, a new track exploring the uncertainty that accompanies significant change.
Written, recorded and produced independently at the band’s Gothenburg studio, ‘svalbard’ examines the conflicting emotions that emerge when life begins moving in an unfamiliar direction. Whether that change ultimately proves positive or negative, the song focuses on the apprehension that can arrive before its consequences become clear.
The single also continues Wolfschmidt’s collision of shoegaze atmosphere and punk urgency. Dense guitars and darker melodic textures sit alongside more intimate vocals, placing the Swedish group somewhere between the heaviness of Nothing and Narrow Head and the restless alternative energy associated with julie and Title Fight.
The song now provides the latest introduction to INSUFFICIENT FAILURE and the increasingly distinctive sound Wolfschmidt are developing around it.
