Play: The Guitar Album is the sixth studio album by American country music artist Brad Paisley. It was released on November 4, 2008 (see 2008 in country music). Like all of his previous albums, Play was released on Arista Nashville and produced by Frank Rogers. The album is largely instrumental in nature, except for five vocal tracks. One of these tracks, “Start a Band” (a duet with Keith Urban), has been released as a single and has become Paisley’s ninth consecutive Number One country hit, and his thirteenth overall. 8. Waitin’ on a Woman
“I believe that most fans of good guitar playing will like this album. There’s fine guitar playing by everyone together with good percussion, good keyboards, and good singing. I even liked the country songs. The musicians are all first rate and play well together and there’s a nice sentimental touch from Andy Griffith in the last piece.”
7. Let the Good Times Roll
“Only on “Let the Good Times Roll” can you easily distinguish B.B. King’s blues playing from Brad’s more rock style. Paisley isn’t just a country boy with a pleasant voice singing about lost love and loneliness. He’s a musician, and he’s the real deal.”
6. Cluster Pluck
“Cluster Pluck” is a great romp with quite the collection of guitar virtuosos (and a very clever/cute intro). This is what I expected to find on this album. This song won a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental Performance.”

“I’ve often told anybody who would listen that Brad Paisley is the best guitar player in country music today. I don’t play guitar but really appreciate those who can, and BP certainly can play. “
4. Playing With Fire
“The few vocals work fine, but primarily as a vehicle to take you to the instrumental section. Once you get there though, there’s some fantastic music to be heard. Try not to set yourself up by expecting anything too much like Brad’s other efforts, this is for cutting loose and playing some killer guitar with huge hooks, melody and humor.”

3. Come on In
“Come On In” is a vocal duet with Buck Owens. It’s Bakersfield/modern blend is pleasant enough. Brad pays tribute to all sorts of genres and artists in this diverse, mostly instrumental album.”

“There are also some mellow instrumental tunes such as “Kim”, which is one of my personal favorites. “Kim” is a quieter, pretty song, that borders on becoming beautiful at times, but isn’t quite sensitive enough for that.”
